About Nathan Yale
As a kid, I was fortunate enough to hike in the Pacific Northwest with my parents nearly every weekend. Growing up, I began learning about the environmental threats facing my beloved forests, mountains, and rivers. I learned that a few people cared more about profits than the planet, and that it was up to the vast majority of us, who do care about Earth and its inhabitants, to figure out how to move the needle toward good.I also realized that facts and numbers weren’t enough. How do you tell a story of environmental conservation, or of the value of limiting pollution, to someone who didn’t grow up with the privilege of enjoying the outdoors daily? To someone who makes a hard-earned living from developing wild lands? To someone who lives in a city and feels no reason to care about endangered species? While I haven’t figured out the best way to tell that story yet, I’m getting closer. At EnviroIssues, I worked to make sure people had the information and resources they needed to participate in public projects around the Northwest. If there was a bridge being built, or a transit system being updated, I helped affected communities interact with government agencies so that everyone involved was communicating openly and productively. Good decisions are made possible by good information. At C+C, I develop and manage marketing campaigns that are considerate toward Earth and the people living on it. Whether it’s recycling, public health, emissions and pollution reduction, or brand awareness, I’m part of the team that’s trying to move that needle toward good. It’s pretty fun too.If you need a strategy to communicate the good thing you’re doing, or just want to talk hiking/cycling/environmentalism, hit me up at nyale at cplusc dot com.
Experience
Director
Jan 2024 — Present · Seattle, WA, US
I lead communications strategy and day-to-day project management for one of our biggest accounts, the Better Buildings Initiative at the U.S. Department of Energy. I help our 950+ public and private sector partners communicate about and get recognized for their decarbonization progress through media events, press releases, social media strategy, and more.I helped manage C+C\'s work with the WA State Department of Health to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our work includes using social marketing principles to promote preventative behaviors, raise awareness about WA Notify (exposure notification), and increase vaccine uptake. I contributed project management, ad and social creation and trafficking, copywriting, and web support for this historic work, and I continue to create content for DOH\'s Public Health Connection blog.I also lead and support a variety of smaller projects on which I write press releases, media advisories, pitches, and other copy, pitch stories to local, national, and trade media, and manage budgets and deliverables production.C+C is a communications agency that’s all about the good – social, environmental, anything that helps make the world a little better. We work with clients to have a positive impact on their communities through PR and behavior change campaigns that inspire people to be more energy efficient, recycle, take public transit, opt outside, and a whole lot more.
