I am a Partner in KPMG\'s Family Office & Private Client team, specialising in providing straightforward and commercial tax advice to entrepreneurs and shareholders of privately owned businesses. I am a passionate believer that the best tax advice is built rather than sold and that tax advisers therefore need a grasp of all (well, most!) of the relevant tax legislation – from key reliefs to anti-avoidance – and an appreciation of the commercial and non-tax drivers behind a client\'s intentions.I\'m also a supporter of the simple-is-best philosophy and I\'m looking to be a long-term trusted adviser to my clients; my experience is that this type of relationship is not achieved through the development of a complex tax planning strategy where the professional advisers are the only beneficiaries!
