   NAMI NYS is the state organization of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots organization for people with mental illness and their families. Founded in 1979, NAMI has affiliates in every state and in more than 1,100 local communities across the country.The Executive Director is responsible for the smooth running and successful implementation of the organization’s operations. Responsibilities- Leads on, upholds, and ensures focus on the organization’s mission, vision, strategy, and values- Provides strategic advice, visioning, and support for state-wide implementation of theorganization’s work, across both programs and operations- Facilitates strategic and operational planning, and ensures the management of the organization’sgrowth and resilience- Acts as a spokesperson and ambassador for the organization, representing and promoting itsmission and work- Strengthens and maintains partnerships, coalitions, and alliances with stakeholders from a varietyof different sectors and communities in support of the organizational mission- Provides thought leadership and effective advocacy on issues affecting the people andcommunities served in coordination with Sr. Director of Government Affairs- Works with relevant team members to help steer the overall framing, content, and messaging ofthe organization\'s programmatic work- Manages direct reports, assisting with the creation of individual objectives and work plans inalignment with team and organizational goals and providing advice, direction, and high-levelsupport- Fosters a healthy, mission-driven, team-centric, and trauma informed organizational culture thatpractices transparency and accountability and prioritizes staff safety, security, and well-being
