ABOUT NATHAN MONTE
I\'m head of Research & Development at GivingForce, an enterprise CSR platform used by FTSE100 companies. GivingForce is at the forefront of removing the barriers that would otherwise hold back a business or an individual from engaging more. Some of the largest companies in the world rely on our technology and services to ensure they are able to safely, transparently and accurately donate both time and money worldwide.My role focuses on challenging and introducing best practices for software engineering within the GivingForce eco-system. I lead a team of software engineers taking on some of the most challenging technical problems the company faces.This is my second time at the company after me and a co-founder raised investment to run a platform for hiring junior developers. After giving it all we had, we found we were happier in software engineering. I\'ve previously completed an entrepreneurship programme, the NEF Fast track (New Entrepreneurs Foundation) which gave me a great foundation for working within start up businesses. Before that I studied a postgraduate diploma in entrepreneurship, and surprisingly a degree in Art History and Theory!I\'m a self taught developer and really believe in the value that people who are self-taught can bring to software engineering teams. I’m passionate about creating opportunities for candidates who come from non-traditional and more diverse backgrounds, and supporting GivingForce\'s journey.
