ABOUT NATHANIEL POLLOCK

As Senior Counsel in the DOJ’s Tax Division, I was the government’s closer in high-priority tax cases – I understand how the IRS thinks about tax cases. Now, in private practice, I help individuals, partnerships, and corporations in two tax situations. I help resolve problems with the IRS, representing companies and individuals at all stages of a tax dispute. This includes IRS examinations, administrative appeals, post-appeals mediation, litigation either in the U.S. Tax Court, U.S. Court of Federal Claims, or U.S. district courts, and appellate litigation in the U.S. circuit courts of appeals. I also counsel clients as they evaluate the litigation risk inherent in tax positions they are contemplating. These situations can arise for any taxpayer, and I have litigation experience across a broad spectrum of tax laws. I also have a wealth of experience relevant to the cannabis, oil and gas, and real estate industries.In my appellate work on behalf of clients (in tax and other cases) I draw on skill gained drafting many dozens of briefs in the federal courts of appeals—as well as at least a dozen in the U.S. Supreme Court—and representing the government at oral argument more than 25 times. I use that skill to help clients win on appeal.
