ABOUT NATHAN HEINERT

Nathan HeinertExecutive Director and FounderAfter watching first hand the struggles faced by someone undergoing cancer treatment and the stress placed upon their family and friends, Nathan Heinert made it his personal mission to foster a spirit of love, appreciation, and most importantly genuine acts of kindness for those patients and their support networks. Created in honor of his dear friend, Bill Connor, the River of Hope Foundation provides visual elements of relaxation and healing in hopes to alleviate some of the stress, pain and feelings of hopelessness associated with a cancer diagnosis and treatment, all in an effort to provide a better quality of life for those individuals and their caregivers. Before founding River of Hope, Heinert spent several years as the Facility Manager for POET, LLC, managing daily facility and grounds operations for the company’s corporate headquarters in Sioux Falls. Prior to that Heinert served as President for Dreamscapes, Ltd, a SDLNA Award-Winning Company. As President and Owner of this landscape design, sales and installation firm, Heinert’s professional and applied expertise in the field of landscape design and project management provided the framework for his vision, passion, work ethic, and values as Executive Director for the River of Hope Foundation.Since its inception, River of Hope, with leadership from Heinert and the Board of Directors, has accomplished eleven individual projects, raised in excess of to help those affected by cancer, and is poised to complete ten individual projects in 2011. In addition, River of Hope is collaborating with the City of Sioux Falls to convert a city park to a community place of reflection and hope for patients and families facing diagnosis and treatment as well as a venue for cancer fundraising events.Specialties: project coordinator, sponsorship and major gifts coordinator, marketing
