About Nathan Brown

Dr. Nathan Brown has over 40 years of experience in the fields of clinical psychology, neurotherapy and biofeedback, and organizational consulting. In 1985 Dr. Brown received his doctorate from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology, where he was trained in a biopsychosocial approach to mental health and performance. Rooted in this perspective, he began his work in biofeedback and neurofeedback, exploring the potential of these tools to deepen the effectiveness of traditional health and wellness methods, such as psychotherapy and performance coaching. In addition to his training and experience in biofeedback and neurofeedback, Dr. Brown has specialized expertise in clinical health psychology, geropsychology, assessment, and prevention-oriented community psychology. He has held academic posts at Fuller Graduate School of Psychology and Seattle Pacific University, where he served as Dean and Associate Professor.Through TrueBearing Academy, Dr. Brown trains clinicians who seek to deepen their skills in the use of evidence-based applications of biofeedback and neurofeedback. He also consults with a wide range of organizations seeking to foster healthy corporate culture and to encourage the development of effective leaders.Central to Dr. Brown\'s work is the belief that a deep understanding of the relationship between brain patterns and problems in living is key to ‘mastering your craft’ regardless of clinical specialty.Dr. Brown has consulted for many years with a variety of digital health tech firms, including J&J Electronics, BrainBit, Myndlift, Juva Health, as well as Divergence Neuro, where he currently serves as Senior Clinical Advisor. Dr. Brown advises the Divergence team in the research, development, and testing of new and powerful features to further improve the user experience and functionality of its clinical neurofeedback platform. Throughout his career, Dr. Brown has been drawn to the wisdom and power of an integrative view of human beings. Our body, brain, mind, and spirit are rooted in our relationships and the communities to which we belong, and each of these elements plays a vital and interconnected role in the quality of our lives. When problems in living arise, each of these biopsychosocial factors must be considered and incorporated into an effective strategy for lasting change.Dr. Brown practices in Seattle and Bellingham, WA, while maintaining an active remote practice offering neurofeedback, consulting, and speaking services worldwide.
