RaceRanger is a New Zealand triathlon technology company that builds an electronic drafting-detection system for non-drafting races. Currently the RaceRanger is used by the following triathlon organisations - Ironman, T100, Challenge, WTS.At events, athletes fit two small devices to their bike; the system measures the gap to the rider ahead and uses visible light signals to show when you’re entering a warning zone or the drafting zone, helping athletes self-correct in real time. Officials can also use RaceRanger’s tools to support more consistent officiating and reduce the subjectivity of drafting calls.RaceRanger has been used primarily in professional fields (where fewer devices are needed), while the company works on scaling the system for larger age-group racing and broader race tracking/data features.
