About Nathan Wong
Dr. Nathan D. Wong is Professor and Director of the Heart Disease Prevention Program, Division of Cardiology at University of California, Irvine School of Medicine and also Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology and UC Irvine and UCLA. He holds PhD and MPH degrees in epidemiology from Yale University and is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, National Lipid Association and American Society for Preventive Cardiology (ASPC) He is also a past president (20••••12) of the ASPC and Pacific Lipid Association (20••••19), and current President of the InterAmerican Heart Foundation (20••••22). Dr. Wong has over 30 years experience in cardiovascular epidemiology and preventive cardiology, has edited or co-edited 7 textbooks, including Preventive Cardiology: A Companion to Braunwald\'s Heart Disease and two editions of the ASPC Manual of Preventive Cardiology. He has also authored or co-authored over 400 peer-reviewed manuscripts in his principal research areas of subclinical atherosclerosis, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, lipids, and hypertension, serves as co-editor in chief of the American Journal of Preventive Cardiology and is on the editorial boards of several other cardiology journals. Dr. Wong has also been an investigator or collaborator with large-scale NIH-sponsored studies, including the Framingham Heart Study, Women\'s Health Initiative, Antihypertensive Lipid-Lowering to Prevent Heart Attack Trial, and the Multiethnic Study of Atherosclerosis. He also lectures internationally on his research and on various topics in preventive cardiology. Dr. Wong is also a recipient of the ASPC Joseph Stokes MD and International Academy of Cardiology Jan Kellerman awards for lifetime achievement in preventive cardiology as well as a recent recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Clinical Research from the UCI School of Medicine.
