ABOUT NATHAN THANOS

I am passionate about technology and using it in appropriate ways that positively impact people\'s lives. I look for opportunities where I can leverage my technology integration skills with my business strategy skills to fill gaps in an organization: resulting in an all around better product, service, and business.Throughout my career I have had the opportunity to integrate my technology knowledge, skills, and experiences with that of the needs of an innovative organization. With my unique position early on at NC Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) as a liaison between the Financial Business Service Team and IT, I was able to quickly assess the gaps where technology and process improvement were needed to make NCDPI more effective and efficent. My experience in learning the ins and outs of state budget, procurement, and other major state government mechanisms later helped influence my work with NC Virtual Public Schools (NCVPS).At NCVPS I was able to utilize my full technical and Information Systems background to help set-up, configure, and grow the infrastructure of the second largest K12 virtual public school in the nation. I started in the role as Learning Management System Administrator and quickly excelled into a senior level position. With a major focus on innovation around instructional resources as well as around operational processes I was elected by my colleagues and peers as E-innovator of the year in 2010. I continued my pursuit to improve education with NCVPS and reside as the Senior Systems Specialist and R&D Coordinator. The strengths that make me an effective leader are:Quickly and effectively assess the infrastructure needs for a project, program or business and offer a well developed solution. Serving as a liaison between technology and the business units of an organization, I am able to serve as a needs translator for all stakeholders. Proactive approach to operations, reducing the risk involved with unforeseen issues.
