I lead the external affairs function in Wales for one of the UKs leading disability charities. I\'m responsible for a multidisciplinary team focused on securing changes to legislation, policy and practice to break down barriers and create a more equal society for blind and partially sighted people.Notable achievements in this role include:• Leading an integrated campaign in collaboration with the health correspondents, clinical leaders and Members of the Senedd in response to growing numbers of patients suffering avoidable sight loss whilst waiting for NHS treatment. This campaign secured ministerial commitment for increased investment in, and reform of, eye care services.• Managing a strategic partnership with the Welsh Government to improve the accessibility of the voting system for blind and partially sighted people. • Overseeing a campaign which successfully influenced the Welsh Government to revise their national standards for health information accessibility and develop a national action plan to support their implementation.• Appearing before a parliamentary committee to make the case accessibility measures and inclusive design principles to be included within new legislation on public transport. • Developing strategic media partnerships which secured numerous pieces of impactful coverage, enhanced RNIBs reputation, and progressed our strategic priority to reverse inaccurate public perceptions and promote positive depictions of disability in the media.• Providing strategic leadership for a multidisciplinary team that includes policy, public affairs, campaigns, bilingual communications, media and public relations functions. • Advising board and executive leadership on opportunities for, and risks to, realising our strategic objectives within a devolved political context.
