Nathan Janeway is the Director of Development Services for Hamilton County, bringing over nine years of experience as a Planner and Project Manager. Based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he is experienced in strategic negotiations, government administration, and political risk analysis, with a strong background in the heavy equipment industry. Nathan has held key roles including Materials Supervisor at Mueller Water Products and Supply Chain Planning Project Manager at Komatsu America Corp, where he negotiated in rolling cost reductions. With a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Government from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, he currently oversees managerial functions, automation implementations, and collaboration with developers and elected officials for subdivision projects.

   Performs a variety of high level managerial, supervisory, and administrative functions involved in the operation of the development services department, including prioritizing and assigning work. Provides oversight and control of budgets, department hiring, procurement and expenditures. Directs implementation of internal operations, which includes planning, coordinating, administering and evaluating programs, projects, processes, procedures, standards and service offerings. Manages and oversees automation and permitting software implementations and improvements. Manages, participates and provides assistance with inspection activities associated with development review, assists in approval of subdivision designs, issue permits for residential subdivision work, coordinates signatures for subdivision plats, investigates and resolves complaints and questions. Collaborates and meets with developers, professionals, elected officials, residents, and other departments and agencies to discuss, advise, and assist with various subdivision development issues. Provides guidance and expertise to engineers, contractors, realtors, property owners, and the general public regarding subdivision development projects; responds to related questions and requests for information. Maintains records of inspections, subdivision progress information and permits; prepares resolutions for acceptance of newly constructed roads. Reviews and participates in the development of a variety of reports, communications, schedules and/or other related documents to and from internal departments, governmental entities, external agencies, contractors and/or other interested parties. Serves as an information source for County elected officials, management and staff; represents Hamilton County in dealing with the public, local, state and federal agencies on issues relating to areas of responsibility; coordinates and communicates development services requirements with other departments and agencies.
