ABOUT NATHAN HINTON

As a Senior Engineer, I have acquired over 5 years of experience working at two premium OEMs within the automotive sector, working with a range of teams in upstream R&D and production focused product development. With a strong academic background acquired during my DPhil (PhD), I have displayed my ability to manage all aspects of a research project whilst engaging my curiosity in understanding and modelling physical phenomena. Transitioning into Powertrain Research at Jaguar Land Rover enabled me to obtain a more industry focused view of R&D, delivering projects through defined development processes and gateway reviews as well as deepening my expertise in Internal Combustion Engines and wider Powertrain systems. Building supplier relationships, leading technology reviews and managing small teams in delivering projects strengthened my abilities and experience in effective teamwork, communication, managing priorities and delivering to deadlines. My most recent role at McLaren Automotive Ltd. continued to lean heavily on my numerical and data analysis skills, with a large focus on developing response models from large test data sets and performing multi-objective optimisation to develop engine and vehicle level calibrations for series production. My approach is characterised by a fine attention to detail and desire to provide quality and robust data-driven solutions, utilising problem-solving skills and an analytical approach. Looking to the future, I am keen to continue on a career path where I am able to apply my skills and approach to deliver impactful solutions to complex problems.
