ABOUT NATHAN DREW
Nathan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, currently practicing in the state of Florida as a Behavioral Health Officer with the United States Public Health Service. His current duty station is the Krome Detention Facility in Miami, Florida where he provides clinical services to detainees within the medical clinic. Services include: Assessment, Diagnosis, Treatment Planning, Therapy, Crisis Intervention, Case Management, Referral and more. He has prior experience and extensive training with social work practice in clinical settings such as hospitals and primary care facilities, and in case management/advocacy within the school setting. Likewise, he is adequately trained in Individual/Relationship/Family Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Task Oriented Therapy and Brief Supportive Counseling. He is also certified as a Parent-Child Interaction Therapist. He specializes in work with minority, adolescent and young adult males. Nathan received his undergraduate social work degree (BSW) from Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama in the Spring of 2011. He went on to receive his Masters of Social Work degree (MSW) from the University of Maryland-Baltimore School of Social Work with a Concentration-Specialization in Clinical-Health social work in the Summer of 2012. He has been licensed in the state of Maryland since July of 2012 and D.C. since June of 2016. Since then, he has been awarded multiple opportunities to work on multidisciplinary teams who work holistically to create optimal care plans for clients. Nathan has also been awarded many Public Speaking opportunities where he has had the privilege of educating/training professionals on topics such as: Suicide Intervention and Prevention, Sexual Abuse Prevention, Trauma-Informed Practice with Children, Motivational Interviewing and Health Coaching in the Primary Care Setting, Community Resource Navigation, Use of the Social Worker in a Patient Centered Medical Home, Management of Depression, Attachment Disorders in Children, and much more. He has received specialized training in Motivational Interviewing, Mental Health Assessment and Treatment, Leadership Development and Nutrition Counseling.
