ABOUT NATHAN COUGHLAN

An Associate Ecologist with an expertise in wildlife conservation, law, policy, and habitat management/creation. Over twelve years experience in ecological consultancy, local government, and non-government organisations. Expertise in planning policy, protected species law, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulation Assessments, habitat creation/recreation, and undertaking ecological surveys. Developed a specialism in all aspects of Biodiversity Net Gain assessments. This includes a mixture of large scale and strategic assessments covering both mandatory and voluntary BNG. I reguarly undertake UKHab surveys, condition assessments, and hold a FISC Level 4. I am proficient at authoring Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans (HMMPs).Experience of managing and coordinating large-scale projects (including several Nationally Important Infrastructure Projects, Strategic Resource Options, and large frameworks). I reguarly provide technichal assurance and reviews. Holds a survey licence for great crested newts (class 2) and sand lizard/smooth snakes. I hold a Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) Level 4.Full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) and Chartered Ecologist (CEcol).
