I Manage and oversee the operations of the commercial and municipal fleet in the most efficient, compliant and cost effective manner and help to ensure the depots achieve agreed profit targets. I also liaise closely with approved Workshop/Service providers with regards to all aspects of the fleet management. I am also responsible for the procurement and disposal of all types of waste collection vehicles ranging in size from 3.5t - 44t.Key tasks also include :To be responsible for the maintenance and repair of the operational company transport fleet, controlling costs in line with agreed targets.To ensure the companies compliance with the road traffic act and any other legislation relevant to the company transport fleet.To work closely with the current workshop service provider to organise and schedule all maintenance and repair work for the company transport fleet using the in house facilities and outside contractors as required.To monitor and update the R and M records to show evidence of cost control.To ensure full and accurate records are kept of vehicle servicing schedules and MOT pass rate. Ensure that any deviations from targets are recognised and addressed in order to maintain the company OCRS score.To be responsible for controlling costs in line with agreed budgets.To investigate work practices, devise and recommend strategies to improve performance.To recommend and prepare annual budgets in line with vehicle replacement programs.To prepare monthly reports detailing fleet downtime and performance.To manage relationships with internal and external workshop service providers and maintain a high level of service for the company transport fleet.To monitor fuel and Ad-Blue purchasing to ensure best value.To ensure that all new vehicles are specified with appropriate safety devices in line with the companies` commitment to Health and Safety.To ensure compliance and keep informed of any changes in legislation/drivers hours.
