ABOUT NATHAN A. MERRIMAN

I believe we can improve health care faster and more effectively together with team-based, compassionate care that is human-centered and system sustainable for all patients, families, and care team members. We can strive for this goal using mission driven strategy, human-centered design, data informed decisions, care plan co-design with patients and clinicians, and continuous learning and improvement across individuals, teams, and organizations.After my Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Clinical Epidemiology with Data Analytics training in academics, I spent 12 years in GI private practice in Delaware. I learned and experienced GI private practice leadership and teamwork, endoscopy center co-ownership, and diverse health system physician leadership roles and experiences as we partnered with our health system to care for our community. Over time, I explored several start-up company cross-training and experiential learning opportunities to diversify my leadership learning and collaboration skills. In August 2020, I joined our Intermountain Health team in a system level Gastroenterology physician leader role with a combination of leadership and clinical care responsibilities. We have a remarkable team of teams at Intermountain Health with a team-based approach to learning, leading, caring for, and helping our patients, communities, and each other. Throughout my roles and leadership journey in health care, I incorporate my own experiences and learning as a patient, family member, clinician, and physician leader to improve the health care experience and system of care for others.*The comments and views expressed by me on LinkedIn are my own.*
