ABOUT NATHALIE DIBERARDINO
I am a Senior Consultant in the Responsible AI team at EY Canada and a 2024–2025 Digital Policy Hub Fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation. I hold a B.A. and M.A. in Philosophy from Western University, where I specialized in AI ethics. My SSHRC-supported research analyzes the ethical and social impacts of algorithmic systems, particularly as they affect marginalized communities. My most recent work has focused on unpacking the role of and motivations behind the use of AI in the Canadian housing crisis.I have contributed to Responsible AI policy and regulatory projects across sectors including education, healthcare, and social services. I am skilled at translating abstract ethical principles into concrete strategies for addressing social challenges, and have closely analyzed evolving global AI regulation and standards development including the EU AI Act, the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO 42001, and Canada’s former Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (AIDA) proposal. My work has been featured in The New York Times and published at ACM’s Conference on Fairness, Accountability, and Transparency (FAccT). I was awarded the Western Gold Medal as Western University’s top honours Philosophy graduate and was named the Global Winner in Philosophy for my research on the social impacts of AI at the 2023 Global Undergraduate Awards.
