ABOUT NATE DEMASTER
My career started as a civilian engineer in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program working as a Nuclear Plant Engineer at a submarine prototype. I was certified as a Naval Nuclear Engineer and spent five years as an Operations, Maintenance, Training, and Simulator supervisor of military, bargaining, and non-bargaining personnel. Since that time I have transitioned into the commercial nuclear utility industry. After a position in the engineering department, I earned my Senior Reactor Operator\'s license and completed my Master of Engineering Management (M.E.M.) degree. After nearly ten years in the Operations Department, I accepted the position of Outage Manager. I have managed three refueling outages, one the most successful in plant history by many measures, and one \'defueling only\' outage. After a short stint as Decommissioning Director, I transitioned into a Project Director role for the Palisades Restart Project. This first of it\'s kind project will lead the way for future restart projects across the country. It also sets the stage for future SMR\'s right here in Michigan.
