Tenor Tanglewood Festival Chorus @Boston Symphony Orchestra

The Tanglewood Festival Chorus performs year-round with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops. Founded in 1970 by conductor John Oliver, Director of Choral and Vocal Activities at the Tanglewood Music Center, the Tanglewood Festival Chorus made its debut in a performance of Beethoven\'s Ninth Symphony with Leonard Bernstein conducting the BSO. The chorus gave its first overseas performances in December 1994, touring with Seiji Ozawa and the BSO to Hong Kong and Japan; it performed with the BSO in Europe under James Levine in 2007 and Bernard Haitink in 2001. The ensemble had the honor of singing at Sen. Edward Kennedy\'s funeral; has performed with the Boston Pops for the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics; and can be heard on the soundtracks of Clint Eastwood\'s Mystic River, John Sayles\'s Silver City, and Steven Spielberg\'s Saving Private Ryan. Now numbering over 200 members, the choir regularly performs under the direction of Andris Nelsons of the BSO and Keith Lockhart of the Boston Pops. In 2017 the British-born James Burton was named the new Conductor of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, also being appointed to the newly created position of BSO Choral Director. Throughout its history, the TFC has established itself as a favorite of conductors, soloists, critics, and audiences alike.
