ABOUT NATASHA KARIM
Currently pursuing a Juris Doctor at the University of Ottawa, with a research affiliation at the Centre for Law, Technology and Society. As a Legislative Development Intern at the Senate of Canada, I contribute to legislative research and policy analysis under Senator Colin Deacon\'s office, focusing on issues central to digital governance and data privacy. As a Research Assistant to Dr. Michael Geist, my work spans critical analysis of Canadian legislative bills on privacy, media financing, and global trade implications. My academic and professional journey is rooted in a commitment to understanding the intersection of law, technology, and societal impact, with the goal of advancing equitable and innovative legal frameworks. My legal experience also spans commercial litigation and international law, through studying at The Hague Academy of International Law, and supporting litigation matters at Babin Bessner Spry LLP. Before law school, I served as an Intelligence Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy, where I developed leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills in high-pressure environments. I’m particularly interested in the intersections of law, technology, and human rights, and I bring a global perspective and a strong commitment to service into everything I do. I’m always eager to learn, contribute, and connect with others working at the forefront of law and policy.
