ABOUT NATALIE HOSEA

Dr. Natalie A. Hosea led the Pharmaceutical Candidate Optimization (PCO) team for Bristol Myers Squibb in San Diego. Following her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Pharmacology at the University of California, San Diego in 1996, and fellowship at Vanderbilt University in she joined the pharmaceutical industry and has held several scientific and leadership roles in Research & Development and DMPK at Pfizer and Takeda, including site head of the Takeda research facility located in San Diego. In early 2022, Natalie joined Bristol Myers Squibb to lead the PCO team in San Diego with oversight for portfolio deliverables from Toxicology, DMPK and Pharmaceutics. This expanded scientific and leadership role is directly aligned with her passion in research and the discovery of new life changing therapies for patients.An unwavering supporter of STEM education and outreach efforts, Natalie served on the advisory council for the College of Science and Math at California State University San Marcos as an industry representative, and frequently hosted student groups to connect students with industry scientists and experience. Lastly, Natalie is a member Industry Advisory Board for the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Washington State University and College Advisory Board for the Department of Pharmaceutics at the University of Washington.Natalie served two consecutive terms on council for the International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX) council, serving on multiple committees during her tenure, and remains actively involved with the society, serving as chair of the Meeting Organization Committee of the 2024 ISSX/JSSX Meeting. She also served on the IQ Translational and ADME Sciences Leadership Group as Takeda’s delegate and now serves as BMS’s representative.Rounding out her expertise, Natalie is a staunch advocate for people development. Natalie has led and participated in women’s employee resource groups at Pfizer and Takeda, serving as a mentor to colleagues internally and externally. She served as program director on the San Diego Regional Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association committee where she led a team to develop and execute program content. Natalie continues her service to that organization as an active member of the San Diego Chapter’s advisory board and was the recipient of the HBA Legacy Award for her outstanding, long-term contributions to the chapter. Currently, she is the executive sponsor of the growth and development committee and the women’s employee resource group, B-NOW, at the San Diego BMS site.
