As the Ames Fire Marshal, I hold the authority for fire and life safety jurisdiction at NASA Ames Research Center. My role encompasses a comprehensive set of responsibilities to ensure the highest standards of safety and code compliance. I collaborate closely with key stakeholders, including Safety and Mission Assurance, Occupational Safety, Health and Medical Services, and Environmental Services, to proactively identify and mitigate fire and life safety hazards.My expertise ensures strict compliance with NASA, state, and federal regulations and codes through precise interpretation and application. I oversee code compliance for the design, installation, and maintenance of fire alarm and fire suppression systems, protecting both lives and property. As the designated lead fire investigator, I conduct thorough investigations to determine the cause and origin of fires.I serve as a member of the Construction Permit Review Board, ensuring that all new construction and tenant improvement projects adhere to applicable codes and regulations. For large-scale public events with over attendees, I provide expert technical guidance and inspection support to the Special Events Planning Team. Additionally, I act as the Fire and Life Safety Planning Liaison for the NASA Ames Research Center Development Support Office, working with Planetary Ventures Bayview Campus, University of Berkeley Extension Campus, Mountain View Housing Ventures, and Moffett Federal Airfield.In times of crisis, I assume the critical role of Planning Section Leader for the Ames Emergency Operations Center (EOC), coordinating effective emergency response strategies. Through my extensive expertise and authority, I am committed to maintaining the highest standards of fire and life safety across all facets of NASA Ames Research Center operations.
