About Naomi Provost
Hi, I’m Naomi.I lead engineering at CTrees, where we build scalable geospatial systems that turn complex environmental data into real-world impact. My focus is on leading teams, setting technical direction, and delivering reliable infrastructure for climate and forest monitoring at global scale. At CTrees, I oversee engineering strategy and execution to support our science and product platforms—everything from backend APIs and data pipelines to mentoring engineers and aligning cross-functional priorities. I’ve helped design systems that cut global land-use change alert processing from 10 days to 20 hours, and continue to guide how we use open-source tools like Flask, Xarray, and Zarr to power data-driven environmental insights. Before CTrees, I led backend and geospatial development at Preem, a social app for cyclists, and earlier built mapping tools for Microsoft Bing Maps.Tech focus: Python, PostGIS, Flask, AWS, Terraform, Kotlin, Airflow, Docker, GitHub ActionsOutside of work, I’m usually outdoors—backpacking, navigating with a map, and drawing inspiration from the landscapes our technology helps protect.
