ABOUT NAOMI MILLER
Lighting is the perfect field for me, since half of my brain lives in the design world where lighting provides both visual information and emotional uplift, and the other chunk of brain lives in the engineering world where energy efficiency, physiological well being, visual comfort, and visual performance reside. My background ranges from lighting design to applications engineering, teaching to research. My passions include design of the visual environment, light and health impacts, making people\'s daily lives more comfortable, and helping to preserve our planet, its flora and critters. I have an energy-efficient, dark sky little heart. To that end, I am currently a scientist in the Advanced Lighting Team at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, where I have a chance to influence the future through research and education on critical lighting topics such as flicker, glare, sky glow, light and health, and creating lighting and controls systems that work well and support human needs.
