Founder @Learning By Heart
Learning By Heart is an initiative with two principal goals: to provide children and adults in the UK with the educational support they need, while in turn helping to widen access to education for young people across the world. We provide online classes in a wide range of subjects, run by volunteer tutors, in exchange for donations to educational charities. Classes are delivered remotely using video calling platforms so we are able to reach pupils all over the country. Our proceedsWe provide online classes in a range of subjects, run by volunteer tutors, in exchange for a pay-as-you-feel donation which we pass on to our partner organisations. Currently, our proceeds are donated to The Literacy Hubs, whose incredible work enables young people to develop the literacy skills they need to thrive. Previously we have supported Refugee Education UK, CAMFED and Education Cannot Wait.As founder, I am responsible for day-to-day administration of the organisation, managing relationships with partners and clients, recruiting and managing volunteers and trustees. To date, I have grown the organisation to over 30 tutors, developed a website and presence on multiple social media platforms, and overseen the delivery of over 800 hours of tutoring, raising over £4500 for our partners. Within its first year, Learning By Heart was shortlisted for a UK Learning Excellence Award.
