ABOUT NANETTE ANDERSSON

Nanette, a licensed architect, received her M.Arch from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her B.A. in Art History with a Business Minor from Northern Illinois University. Nanette is currently an architect/project manager with Northern Illinois University’s Architectural and Engineering Services overseeing new construction, renovations and repairs on the 756 acre campus with GSF of space. Previously, she was the Director of Libraries Facilities at Purdue University. Where she oversaw new construction, auxiliary services, and security for up to GSF of Library space and supervised a department of up to 24 employees. In 2009 Nanette founded Andersson Architecture + Design after working for several medium sized firm. Nanette earned her LEED AP accreditation from the US Green Building Council (USGBC) in 2005. She has experience in all aspects of LEED certification and submittals and has successfully coordinated and submitted projects certified by the USGBC. Nanette has earned her LEED with Specialty in Building Design and Construction. She has also taught advanced education classes for LEED accreditation. Nanette has earned her FMP (Facility Manager Professional) certification, and has received a certificate in \"Environmental Controls in Museums, Archives and Libraries\" from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Nanette currently sits on the American Library Associations ACRL Buildings for College and University Libraries Committee. She has served as a reviewer for the National Endowment for Humanities, Sustaining Cultural Heritage Collections Grant Panel and was appointed to the Architecture and Design Advisory Board for the Illinois Executive Mansion Committee. Nanette is co-author of \"Developing Metrics to Assess the Library\'s Active Learning Spaces\" and \"Designing Academic Libraries in the Digital Age\". She has served a director for the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Northeast Illinois chapter, and is currently a member of the Committee of the Environment (COTE). Nanette has also held the position of Advocacy Chair of the South Central Suburban Branch of the Illinois Chapter of the USGBC, and was the 2012 recipient of the USGBC-Illinois Chapters Green Champion Award. Nanette has served as an appointed commissioner and Assistant Chair for the City of Geneva’s Historic Preservation Commission, Nanette regularly reviews design projects for architecture classes and has sat on the jury for Landmark Illinois Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation Awards.
