ABOUT NANDO VAN ARNHEM

Currently I\'m finishing my PhD dissertation in the group of Flight Performance and Propulsion at TU Delft. My work is on propulsion integration aspects of open-rotors. The key areas of interest are the aerodynamic installation effects on aircraft performance, stability, and control. Through CFD simulations and experiments I am addressing both the fundamental interaction effects, but at the same time I\'m trying to put these findings in perspective on aircraft level. During the course of my PhD I have worked, together with colleagues, on two Clean Sky 2 projects. My objective has always been to extend the current knowledge on propulsion integration while making the translation to industrial application. I\'m also involved in the TU-Delft Flying-V project that is supported by KLM. My role is piloting the scaled model and assisting in the flight preparations. In September 2015 I graduated from the faculty of Aerospace Engineering at the Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands) in the department of Flight Performance and Propulsion. During my internship at NASA Ames in the Aeromechanics department I worked on flight simulator software. Prior to my MSc studies, which focuses on aircraft design, aerodynamics, propulsion and optimization, I received my BSc degree in Aerospace Engineering (also at the Delft University of Technology).
