Mar 2010 — Present · Brooklyn, NY, US
As Executive Director of the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, Nancy is responsible for board management, development and fundraising, financial management, external relations (federal, state and local government, donors and foundations, and all other stakeholders), staffing, marketing/branding, strategic positioning, and development and implementation of all free public programming facilitated or produced by the Conservancy. The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy has worked for over 30 years to bring Brooklyn Bridge Park to life. The Conservancy started out as grassroots advocates, bringing together residents, government, and local supporters to transform an abandoned waterfront into the park you see today. Now a lead steward, the Conservancy works in partnership with Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation to ensure that the park reaches its full potential as a dynamic and vibrant public space for Brooklyn, New York City, and beyond. The Conservancy produces diverse and innovative programming for park visitors and cultivates volunteer and philanthropic support of this special place on the Brooklyn waterfront. Since more than visitors have enjoyed the Conservancy’s free, public programs in Brooklyn Bridge Park.In 2015, the Conservancy welcomed visitors to over 500 free and low-cost cultural, educational, and recreational events in the park, including boating, fitness classes, volleyball workshops, stargazing, chess lessons, history tours, seining, movies, concerts, and more.In September, the Conservancy opened an Environmental Education Center to serve the over school children and camp groups who have visited the park for hands-on investigative classes in the environmental sciences. Students from all five boroughs, as well as every zip code in Brooklyn, have attended the Conservancy’s programs, with 60% of students from Title 1 schools, and 51% from ESL classes.
