ABOUT NANCY OGECHI IHEJIRIKA
Welcome! My name is Nancy Ogechi Ihejirika, a third-year Doctor of Pharmacy candidate at Howard University offering a strong background in professional leadership and academic mentorship. I completed my Bachelor’s of Science in Biology at Lincoln University, while also gaining experiences as a Pharmacy Technician in Retail Pharmacy and an Infectious Disease Specialty Pharmacy. During my program, I have had the opportunity to work as an intern in the U.S. Medical Affairs departments at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and Gilead Sciences, with a focus in Respiratory Diseases and Oncology, respectively. I have also exercised my clinical skills while interning at Howard University Hospital’s Cardiology Critical Care Unit. These experiences, paired with my vast leadership positions including President of the American Pharmacists Association, Vice President of Rho Chi Honors Society, GSK/Howard Student Ambassador, Howard University Script Your Future Student Representative, and Academic Tutor, have prepared me with innovative and strategic skills required for a Medical Affairs role within the pharmaceutical industry upon graduation. My mission is to advance global health and improve patient outcomes by increasing access to affordable medications in underserved populations, specifically afflicted with cancer.
