ABOUT NANCY N. ALVAREZ
I am Nancy N. Alvarez, the Head of the 8(a) Business Development Program at the SBA, Dallas/Ft. Worth District Office. My role involves providing leadership and management to optimize the deployment of SBA’s programs and services in North Texas.As the Women-Owned Business Representative, I am responsible for marketing SBA programs and services to women-owned small businesses, playing a critical role in increasing opportunities for WOSBs in the federal marketplace.As a senior member of the District Office Team, I provide significant input in the Strategic Marketing & Outreach Plan (SMOP). I have worked with various groups, organizations, associations, coalitions, and partners in the District, especially those that align with the SBA strategic initiatives.My Federal career began in 1990 under the Department of Defense. In 2006, I started and managed the operations of a small business construction company, holding the Chief Financial Officer position for many years.I graduated from Jacksonville University in 2001 with a Bachelor in Science degree in Business Administration (Magna Cum Laude) and am a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. I have served on various boards and councils, including the City of Jacksonville, Florida, Mayor’s Hispanic American Advisory Board, the Small & Emerging Business Advisory Council, Beaver Street Enterprise Center, and the San Juan – Jacksonville Sister Cities Committee.Currently, I am a board member of the Federal Agency Small Business Advisory Council (FASBAC), a group of professional small business specialists from many local federal agencies who advocate for small businesses’ participation in federal contracting. I am proud to be a part of this group and continue to be a strong advocate for small businesses.
