I am a nationally recognized educator, author and speaker. I am incredibly passionate about ensuring all people, both young people and adults, have equitable and powerful learning experiences. Nancy Akhavan Consulting is a leading consulting group in the areas of literacy, disproportionality and equity in educational settings and diversity training for all organizations, as well as school and district leadership development and school and district organizational development. I have published 10 books on literacy, assessment, student achievement and targeted instruction. My two newest books are This is Balanced Literacy, coauthored with Doug Fisher and Nancy Frey, and At the Reading Table Series, At the Reading Table: Achieving Equity by Scaffolding Skills and Strengths. I provide speaking services through Corwin, Scholastic and Heinemann Speakers. I am currently an Associate Professor for the Kremen School of Education in the Department of Educational Leadership at California State University, Fresno.
