Nancy McGovern is a visionary health innovator and retired physiotherapist whose mission is to enhance dignity, comfort, and independence for individuals experiencing nighttime immobility. With over 35 years of clinical experience, Nancy has transformed her deep understanding of patient care and caregiver strain into Comfort Linen—a beautifully designed system of low-friction sheets and garments that make repositioning in bed easier, safer, and more comfortable. Her journey began in the hospital system, where she created a solution comprised of a friction-reducing system of bed sheets to help protect patient-handling caregivers from musculoskeletal injuries. This pioneering work earned her team a provincial workplace innovation award and led to widespread adoption in acute and residential care facilities throughout Canada. Inspired by both patient and caregiver feedback, after retiring Nancy reimagined the clinical product for home use, founding Comfort Linen as a consumer-facing company rooted in safety, elegance, and ease of use. A lifelong love of textiles and craftsmanship—nurtured by her family’s background in fine handwork and science—infuses Nancy’s designs with both function and beauty. Comfort Linen now serves individuals with Parkinson’s, post-stroke limitations, and chronic pain, and has undergone successful trials in Japan through The Carter Group’s Living Best agetechage tech initiative. Nancy’s work bridges technical innovation with heartfelt empathy. She champions practical, aesthetically pleasing tools that honor the lived realities of both care receivers and their care partners givers. Her solutions are not only backed by science but also shaped by a deep personal commitment to improving daily life—one night of better sleep at a time.
