About Nancy Kang

I am a solution-oriented, strategic advisor and passionate about data privacy. I advise the newest and most innovative of venture-backed startups all the way up to Fortune 500 companies and some of the most well-known household names around the world. I love helping my clients think through the privacy implications of new products and creatively scaling their businesses in ways that are both profitable and smart about privacy. I find joy in separating wheat from the regulatory chaff.Over the past 13 years (8 in privacy and data protection), I’ve partnered with product, engineering, security, legal, and policy leaders to:* Lead privacy programs and initiatives across 45 countries for platforms serving up to 171 M monthly users and together exceeding $65 B in yearly revenue.* Defend technology companies in inquiries and enforcement actions by privacy regulators.* Launch hundreds of consumer privacy notices, user flows, and privacy-by-design features, supporting data-driven business lines worth over $1 B annually.* Deliver hundreds of PIAs and dozens of cookie/tracking technology audits that have improved privacy compliance in scalable, risk-managed ways.* Serve as a valued advisor to CLOs and product and engineering leaders, orchestrating company-wide privacy initiatives and translating complex regulations into pragmatic, revenue-enabling solutions. One of the things I enjoy most is sharing knowledge and making difficult subjects understandable to others. My desire to make the law more accessible to interested stakeholders led me to found an educational company teaching U.S. business law topics to law students and attorneys while living abroad. With no external funding and with six competitors already in the market, I realized $50K+ in revenue in the first year and attracted enrollees from major corporate law departments.Prior to law school I served as a policy analyst for the Mayor’s Office of the City of Los Angeles where I was entrusted with broad-ranging and public roles and responsibilities, including managing people and advising top leadership. As an American citizen who spent several years practicing law abroad, I am bilingual and bicultural.
