ABOUT NANCY GENOVA

Ms. Genova has over twenty years of health care experience. Ms. Genova is currently full time faculty at Hostos Community College in the Behavioral & Social Sciences Department’s Public Policy & Law Unit. In that capacity y she teaches all levels of courses offered by the Department, prepares and deliver student lectures, advise student organizations, serve on committees and provide services to community, government, and industry, and participates in departmental and College-wide assignments, student advisement, curriculum development, and related activities in advancement of the educational aims of the College. Ms. Genova was recruited to expand their public administration major to include health care administration. Ms. Genova provides administrative support to the chairman of OB/GYN at Bronx Lebanon Hospital center which includes program & staff development and grants management. Prior to that she developed the Bronx CAPC Initiative a nationally recognized model of care where she served as the director of the program at the same hospital for their Women’s HIV Services. She has been involved with women’s programs and been in the field of HIV/AIDS since 1993. Ms. Genova’s role in Bronx CAPC included overseeing and maintaining a coalition of several hundred participants and establishing, negotiating and monitoring contracts with collaborating agencies. She is considered a social activist by her peers, and has been acknowledged in a report issued by the NYS AIDS Advisory Council “Women In Peril HIV & AIDS The Rising Toll On Women of Color”. She currently serves as President of the board to 100 Hispanic Women. She was appointed to the Human Rights Commission of Rockland County in April 2008 by the then county Executive Scott Vanderhoof. The play that she authored “The Death of a Dream” had its off-Broadway debut in October 2009 at Roy Arias Theater and received numerous media coverage.
