As an Integrated Prevention Coordination Specialist, I serve as a key member of the Department of Defense’s Integrated Primary Prevention Workforce (IPPW), advancing the mission to create safer, more resilient military communities by addressing harmful behaviors before they occur. My work focuses on preventing violence, abuse, harassment, and other destructive behaviors across the total force—military and civilian—through strategic education, cultural transformation, and data-informed prevention planning.I collaborate with Commanders, Chaplains, Behavioral Health, Military Family and Health, SARC/SAPR, and other key stakeholders to design and implement prevention strategies rooted in public health frameworks and aligned with DoD policy and priorities. My role requires a deep understanding of human behavior, organizational culture, and community dynamics.Key Responsibilities:• Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to identify risk and protective factors at individual, relational, community, and societal levels• Develop and deliver evidence-informed prevention training, workshops, and interventions• Support leadership with prevention planning and integration into command climate and readiness initiatives• Foster cross-functional collaboration with installation and community partners to create unified prevention strategies• Monitor and evaluate program outcomes to ensure effectiveness and alignment with DoD IPP Framework• Advise on trends, gaps, and opportunities to strengthen prevention culture and capacityKey Focus Areas: Prevention of sexual violence, domestic abuse, workplace harassment, suicide, and substance misuse Leadership engagement and education Community resilience and protective factor development Interdisciplinary teamwork and systems-level changeMy work is driven by a passion for building communities where service members and families can thrive—free from harm, full of dignity, and equipped to lead with integrity.
