ABOUT NAIMA WARDEN

Naima Warden is a dynamic arts executive, director, and educator with extensive experience leading performing arts programs rooted in excellence, equity, and innovation. She currently serves as Director of Education (formerly Associate Artistic Director) at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts (NYCDA), where she leads the academic and artistic vision of one of the nation’s top actor-training institutions. Her leadership spans curriculum design, accreditation (NAST, NYSED), faculty mentorship, cross-functional strategy, and all public-facing programming that bridges creativity with operational strength. Trained at the London Drama Conservatory in partnership with Marymount College. Her education instilled both classical rigor and contemporary practice, grounding her lifelong commitment to theater as a civic and cultural force. This global ethos has guided collaborations with institutions like The BRIT School and BOA Academy in the UK. She also contributed to NYC’s Theater Arts Curriculum via the Department of Education’s Office of Arts and Special Projects, advancing access to quality arts education. At NYCDA, Naima championed a vision of actor training aligned with industry demands. She led a faculty of working artists—actors, filmmakers, and directors—and developed instructional models rooted in real-world application, creative discipline, and artistic entrepreneurship. Her approach positioned students not just as performers, but as professionals equipped to navigate and shape the evolving performance landscape. As a coach and consultant, Naima has worked with child actors, emerging talent, and mid-career professionals on projects with Vice Productions, Almeida Theatre, and Sonia Friedman Productions. Known for cultivating authentic performances and career-defining moments, she brings a deep respect for story, voice, and process. She also helped develop a workshop for Grenfell: In the Words of Survivors at St. Ann’s Warehouse, directed by Anthony Simpson and Phyllida Lloyd—deepening her belief in theater as a medium for social truth-telling. Naima builds systems where creative excellence and strategic clarity coexist. Whether leading faculty development, managing operations, or designing recruitment strategies, she creates programs that are artistically ambitious, structurally sound, and culturally impactful.
