ABOUT NAIMA FARAH

I am an Experienced Energy Economist at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Office of Energy Policy and Innovation (OEPI), Division of Energy Market Assessment. My current projects include but not limited to deep understanding of wholesale electricity market, power generator operations, and natural gas pipeline operations, regulation policies, market participants\' bidding behavior and strategies, their interactions with ISO/ RTO tariffs, and energy trading. Before joining FERC, I was a visiting faculty at SUNY New Paltz and a Post-doc Research Associate at Texas A&M University. I obtained my PhD in Economics from University of Calgary, specializing in Energy and Environmental Economics.My strengths are- Deep understanding electricity market and the market operators, how they or the ISOs operate, and how the associated market regulations works efficiently to maintain grid reliability- Interactions with RTOs and power generators as market participants- Energy storage resources and their roles in grid reliability- Renewables- Big complex data analysis to obtain evidence-based conclusions to answer a causal question.
