Appasaheb Naikal has been honored with three prestigious awards: LIS Academy’s Distinguished Librarian of the Year in 2024, the SLA Asia Librarian Excellence Award in 2024, and the Karnataka State Best Librarian Award in 2023. He brings an impressive twenty-six years of continuously advancing and highly responsible leadership experience in business management and technological institutes of higher learning in India and abroad.Currently, Appasaheb Naikal serves as the Librarian and Convener of the Indian Business Museum at IIM Kozhikode, one of India’s top business schools. His visionary leadership has spearheaded the transformation of the library into a modern digital hub, with 95% of its collections available online and 24/7 open access to its resources. His influence extends beyond IIM Kozhikode, having previously held key positions at IIM Indore and S P Jain School of Global Management, Singapore, where he made significant contributions over nearly a decade. He has also worked as a Knowledge Manager at Kuder Visions Unlimited, Singapore, and as a Librarian at Tech Mahindra Ltd, Mumbai.Naikal’s areas of expertise include Digital Libraries, Library Management, Knowledge Management, Research Data Management, Academic Administration, Scholarly Publishing, Open Access, Social Media, Institutional Repositories, Enterprise Negotiations, Budget Allocation and Management, Policy Development and Implementation, and Information Literacy Skills.
