ABOUT NAHLA KHIERY

Child Protection Practitioner with experience in advocacy and system- based programming for prevention and response to neglect, abuse, exploitation, and violence against children, in normal as well as emergency settings. Have more than 13 years experience with International Development Organizations. Started my career as a Volunteer in student- run development project (19••••03). Served as Research Assistant with private consultancy firm for training, research and evaluation – 2001) and as Social Monitoring Officer, in a resettlement project, designed and implemented by consortium of International organizations including Oxfam, Save the Children and German Development Service (20••••03). Since 2004 I have been working as Child Protection Officer with United Nations for Children Fund (UNICEF). Have Master Degree and High Diploma in Peace and Development Studies (University of Juba, Khartoum, Sudan). International Training Certificate on Conflict management and Conflict Transformation (InWent Training Institute, Germany). International Course Certificate on Human Rights, Peace, Security and Sustainable Development (United Nations University, Tokyo, Japan). Awarded the ‘Dynamic Leadership Certificate’ on completion of 15 modules on business management (UNICEF and Harvard Business School, 2013). Initiated child protection emergency response in South Darfur (for internally displaced persons) and White Nile (Returnees and Refugees from Southern Sudan); contributed to the standardization of J4C’s services through family and Child Protection Unit (FCPU) and initiated and lead the process of development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for FCPUs’ professionals. Currently responsible of guiding and coordinating the undertaking of Child Protection System mapping in Sudan.
