ABOUT NAEEM KHEDARUN
Experienced in building and mentoring high productivity engineering teams skilled at distributed systems with a strong focus on engineering quality. At Sonovate I’m responsible for architecture, engineering quality, infrastructure, and platform engineering, ensuring the technology pragmatically utilises the right approaches. Our microservice systems are built with scale and reliability in mind to grow with Sonovate into the future and self-heal when issues arise. Our new systems are cloud native with automated provisioning and deployment systems, telemetry, dashboarding and alerting. We have built-in security principals to ensure infrastructure integrity and integrated a new Snowflake data warehouse.We have since doubled our throughput and are now funding more than £1b per year. Previously at ASOS I was part of the Principal Software Engineers group where I spearheaded initiatives to optimize engineering teams across various product groups, including the AI group. My role involved mentoring teams in engineering, architecture, and quality, while also championing distributed systems, infrastructure, and platform engineering. I actively participated in hands-on delivery and pair programming to support engineers, leading by example to drive process and technology changes. I also presented a case study on our recommendations system utilising Azure Machine Learning at the Microsoft Build conference.
