ABOUT NADIYA SHAFI
I work as a community correspondent for Video Volunteers Network where I produce small video reports on the issues which are often unreported and unrepresented in mainstream media. We are trained to use cameras and internet technology as a tool for social change. So far I have produced more than 400 - 500 videos on different topics like human rights, women’s issues, health, environment, gender, and social justice schemes. Project Coordinator, Lend a Hand India I manage field communications at LAHI in J&K Gender Discussion Club: I was running these group discussion clubs in different parts of the valley to sensitize men and women about gender, sexuality, rights, and equality. The program was supported by UNFPA through Video Volunteers - India Trust. Project Coordinator at VIHAAN Care and Support Centre. Supervised a project on HIV supported by Indian Alliance, under this project we supported healthcare and financial support to already affected men and women. Project Coordinator, Science aur Kayinaat (Science and the Universe) It was the self-Endeavour of the young enthusiasts that produced many useful exhibits of high practical value without incurring many expenses and participated in the state, regional, and national level science exhibitions. Field Investigator, Aman Trust Delhi on behalf of Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) Conducted research on ‘half widows’ of Kashmir and Jammu Project Coordinator, Alfalah Trust Srinagar. Aman aims to develop the social potential for non-violent conflict resolution, implement programs for the rehabilitation of the victims of conflict, and stop the growth of violence through collaboration. Founder Trustee, Shade Foundation |J&K I am associated with a voluntary group working for the overall development of downtrodden sections, and the upliftment of the poor. The Organization also works on the promotion of alternative means of media.
