ABOUT NADIA COMBS

Nadia Combs has over 30 years of teaching experience in Hillsborough County. With a B.A. in social studies and a master’s degree in education leadership at the University of South Florida, Nadia’s experience began as early as college. Post-graduation, she continued gaining knowledge by teaching in Japan for three years. Upon her return to Tampa, Nadia spent 10 years as a teacher, team leader, department head, district teacher trainer while teaching high-risk students and ESOL classes for adult immigrants. Nadia’s commitment to Hillsborough County allowed her obtain Teacher of the Year at that current school and Middle School Social Studies Teacher of the Year for all of Hillsborough County. Achieving those awards helped fuel Nadia’s desire to start two businesses. In 2005, Nadia successfully founded a National Supplemental Education services program. Her company provided free tutoring services to thousands of students in Title I Schools in Hillsborough County and throughout Florida while winning an outstanding an award each year. She was also appointed to the Advisory Panel for Supplemental Educational Services. In 2014, Nadia opened Brighton Learning tutoring center that supports students in public, private, magnet, and charter schools throughout our county while serving as a judge for Hillsborough County School events along with serving on the committee of Children’s Cancer Center Knead for Knowledge Scholarship the past eight years. Throughout all of this. Nadia has been married for 20 years with two high school children attending a Hillsborough County Public School. Nadia’s passion to make a positive impact in her community within different sectors of education is evident. Nadia’s knowledge and extensive experience as an award-winning educator, business leader, and advocate for children makes Nadia the ideal candidate to serve Hillsborough County Schools District One.
