ABOUT NADIA LAMLILI

Currently, I am in charge of Social Innovation at UM6P France and as a PhD candidate in Development and Environmental Economics. My research focuses on the intersections of agricultural value chains, women’s empowerment, and climate adaptation. I began my career in journalism in 1997 and dedicated twenty-two years to the profession. From 2014 to 2018, I was Head of the Maghreb & Middle East section at Jeune Afrique Magazine. Before that, I served as Editor-in-Chief of the Moroccan business magazine Économie et Entreprise and previously worked as a journalist for Tel Quel Magazineand the daily newspaper L’Économiste. In 2005, I received the CNN African Journalist of the Year Award (French-language press) for my investigative reporting on illegal immigration. In 2013, I joined the SAA & AA Communication Group as Senior Manager Consultant. One year later, I moved to France to begin a new professional chapter and rejoined Jeune Afrique. Beyond journalism, I was Publications Manager of the independent think tank L’Afrique des Idées in Paris, which develops public policy analysis on Africa’s economic, political, and cultural issues. I also contributed to academic and literary work: in 2012, I co-authored a collective book coordinated by Moroccan sociologist Fatema Mernissi, Journalistes Marocaines: Génération dialogue, and in 2019 I published a novel, Une plume dans la plaie (A Pen in the Wound), which recounts the story of a censored Moroccan newspaper. I hold a Master’s degree in Geopolitics and Geo-economics of Emerging Africa (HEC Paris / UM6P) and graduated from the High Institute of Information and Communication (ISIC), Rabat. I was also awarded several international fellowships and training opportunities, including at San Diego University (Business Management in the Media, Beirut), the Reuters/Thomson Foundation (Journalistic Techniques, Dakar), and the IMS Network (Women Journalists of Excellence, Copenhagen).
