Working as a patient care technician in an inpatient psychiatric unit has gifted me many skills that I bring into my personal life and will continue to carry through my professional life. My main tasks are performing 15-minute safety checks and taking vitals every shift. I also get to engage and build rapport with my patients, for example, I provided them with updates on their favorite sports during the 2024 Olympics. This experience is very fulfilling and allows me to feel as if I am making a true difference in a challenging point in a patients’ life.
