ABOUT NABIL HAJJI. MRES

Dr Hajji Nabil was awarded a PhD in Molecular Oncology. He held several competitive cancer research fellow positions in leading research institutions in Spain, Sweden, USA and UK. As a group leader at Imperial College London, he has supervised several PhD students, postdocs/research staff and obtained several competitive grants. Currently, he is a lecturer and senior research fellow in the Faculty of medicine, Cancer Division at Imperial College London. He is also an external professor. His research interest focuses on translational medicine examining how genetics/epigenetic alterations and immune-tumour microenvironment changes, affect cancer tumour response to treatment. He uses novel therapies and Key in vivo models for real time tumour assessment to overcoming drug resistance. Dr Hajji conducted a multidisciplinary projects and programs. As Deputy director of Toxicology Unit at imperial college London he acted as an advisor to the UK department of health on the challenging and increasing number of toxic compounds. As group leader and principal investigator, Dr Hajji secured fund form “British Heart foundation” to study novel pharmacological therapies for pulmonary arterial hypertension. Furthermore, has been obtained several competitive grants from UK Medical Research council to study compounds and drugs inducing neurotoxicity and neurodegeneration as well as to understand the molecular pathways that are disrupted in cancer (evaluation of genetics, epigenetics, and metabolism alterations). Dr Hajji has built an extensive experience in drug screening for cancer therapy and neuroprotection. During his 20 years of research experience, he established a strong international collaboration with leading research institutions and biotechnology companies.
