ABOUT MICHAEL ZUR MUEHLEN

I am an academic and practitioner dedicated to designing, implementing, and improving processes and decisions. I study how AI and automation shape the future of work and how organizations can become more efficient, improve service quality, and effectively manage risk and compliance. My technical expertise is in Business Process Management, Workflow Automation, and Business Decision Management, and I have consulted for numerous global businesses and government agencies. I was an advisor to the CTO and Chief Architect of the US Department of Defense\'s Business Mission Area between 2008 and 2012.I serve as Associate Dean of the Graduate Business School at Stevens Institute of Technology, where I oversee academics, operations, development, and growth of all MBA, MS, and PhD programs in Stevens\' business school. Together with my colleagues, we grew our graduate enrollment to 1,500+ students, launched innovative new programs (Analytics MBA, MS in Finance, MS in Financial Technologies & Analytics), and created many impactful collaborations with our global partners.For many years I have been an active contributor to workflow industry standards in the Object Management Group and the Workflow Management Coalition. I led the WfMC working group for the specification of process audit data standards for business activity monitoring applications.I completed my education in Germany and hold a PhD and MS in Information Systems from the University of Muenster, Germany. At Stevens, I am a tenured associate professor.
