About Mykaela Rogers
I often hear the phrase “jack of all trades, master of none” used without the final portion of the phrase—“but better than a master of one.” My career is still in the early stages of its life. I am a master of none. However, this does not mean that have nothing to offer to my community: these early stages have given me opportunities to discover a multitude of disciplines and experiences, effectively making me a well-rounded jack of all trades with a drive to integrate disciplines together. My current path is more like a zig zag combined with a loop than a straight line up. I find that it mirrors the design thinking process prevalent in the current UX industry. Rather than understanding a single facet of my experience and blindly building my way up, I am designing my own life and iterating upon it. WHERE I\'VE BEEN: — I interned as a studio assistant with acclaimed artist Peter Linde Busk in his studio in Berlin while getting my BFA in fine art, and worked with an international team on large scale artworks that were exhibited in worldwide art fairs. — I co-coordinated the publication of 3 annual editions of the art program\'s annual art photography book, and had my work published in the literary journal Inscape and in the online German magazine Horst und Edeltraut. — After graduating, I iterated my creative work and interned at Fusion 360, a creative agency where I was the sole graphic designer of marketing materials for all of their clients. WHERE I AM: — After my internship, I was hired at Lava Surf, another agency focused on social media marketing. I have been their sole graphic designer until August 2020, when we hired another designer to help with creatives due to an increase in clients. — I decided I need to iterate on my work again and shift my focus into UI/UX. I completed Springboard\'s intensive program in UI/UX Design in October 2020 and am looking for opportunities to use my newly acquired UI/UX skills. WHERE I WANT TO GO: — I am interested in applying design methodologies in a variety of fields—I\'d love to work as a UI/UX designer at a video game studio, in an art gallery or museum, or in library and information sciences. I’d love to connect with you! If you are a jack of all trades like me, or love art as much as I do, or even love the dream of building video games with me, don’t hesitate to reach out!
