My career has been built on one principle: the right partners make everything possible. My partner’s success has always been my top priority — and TOGETHER mine has followed.I founded RPM, an early-stage venture capital firm that struggled until I found the right partner and TOGETHER we now have $1B under management.I tried to inject new thinking into entrepreneurship at University of Michigan, where my early efforts fell short — until I was handed the gift of an incredible partner. TOGETHER, our program is now reshaping generations of graduates.I floundered in my efforts to transform a traditional real estate company, McKinley, into a technology leader. I decided to stop letting others try to define my relationship with my partner and leaned into my own definition. TOGETHER the team we built now rivals many of the best in Silicon Valley.I wanted to be an astronaut or send robots to other planets. Instead, I became an Internet entrepreneur, but in a twist of fate one of my partners brought me back into the realm of space. After 6 years advising NASA on how to use commercial partners to advance science, I partner TOGETHER with amazing entrepreneurs and teams building new space companies. Partnership also defines my personal life. With my wife and family, TOGETHER our philanthropy is aimed at measurable impact, from health research, to education, to initiatives improving lives at scale. I believe generosity — of time, knowledge, or capital — is the highest human trait.Nobody wins on their own, but if their partners and team win, TOGETHER they all do. To state the obvious: I bleed Maize and Blue and stay close to Michigan in more ways than one (I went to school there twice). I\'m a former UofM athlete and threw heavy objects.I don\'t like self-promotion, but love promoting the businesses and organizations I\'m involved with. Sometimes you can find me on a bike contemplating how to be better at all these things. And when I\'m with my family, very few people should be able to find me.
