I am a developer for Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), an enterprise-grade web content management system, on both AEM Assets and the AEM core platform. I am a voting member of the AEM architecture council. I work primarily on Apache Jackrabbit Oak and am an Apache Jackrabbit PMC member and committer. I thoroughly enjoy this work, which involves becoming familiar with a complex code base, figuring things out on my own, and interacting effectively online with colleagues all over the world. I really enjoy the opportunities I have to travel to Europe and interact with my colleagues there.Key contributions- I collaborated with a Principal Scientist at Adobe to design the AEM direct binary access feature, where my subject matter expertise in Apache Jackrabbit Oak and large binary storage was leveraged significantly. I then developed the direct binary access functionality in Oak. This key feature allows clients to upload and download binaries directly to and from cloud storage instead of streaming through a server, while still leveraging Oak\'s access control capabilities. This was a critical and pivotal strategic improvement to Oak and AEM that made the AEM migration from on-prem to a cloud service possible- I implemented a prototype for an Azure Blob Storage plugin for Oak which later became a primary Oak module for storing binary data in Azure- I regularly do research and testing to uncover performance bottlenecks and improve AEM\'s capabilities to handle very large customer asset repositories, and often prototype and implement improvements and key new capabilities. In this role I act as a subject-matter expert in my team as well as an individual contributor.I have spoken about my engineering efforts at conferences like ApacheCon, OpenWest, and adaptTo.
